It Doesn’t ADD Up.

In May this year an application by Addaction to open a drug and alcohol treatment centre on Whitegate Drive was rejected by the Development Control Committee. This followed a large number of objections by local businesses, residents and the Ward Councillors from both Brunswick and Talbot Wards.

Having looked at the new application I can see little if any difference to the original application and call upon the Development Control Committee to throw it out in the same way as it did the first application.
The area surrounding the site on Whitegate Drive is a residential area with a thriving shopping community which I believe would be adversely affected if this development is allowed to go ahead.

Ron Bell with residents of Whitegate Drive Blackpool

In a nutshell this site is simply inappropriate for a drug and alcohol treatment centre and for the sake of the community we must oppose it in the same way as we did Addaction’s first application.

I therefore ask you to lend your support by signing the petitions that can be found in a number of shops on Whitegate Drive and the surrounding area. Click here to take part in our survey

Together with the other Ward Councillors I intend to be at the hearing and have asked to be allowed to speak at which time I will make your views known.

I am angry that Addaction have put the residents and businesses of this community through the ordeal of a second planning application. I am adamant that this development is simply wrong for the area and ask that you join me by lending your voice and thereby ensuring that we protect our community both now and in the future.
